Violation of probation can frequently be grouped in to two (2) main categories: technical violations and non-technical violations. Quite often, technical violations can be resolved at the time that a person charged with an alleged violation of probation makes his or her first appearance before the Judge presiding in the Court where the defendant was placed on probation. Non-technical violations frequently require multiple appearances in Court, or a hearing.
